一、学科概况湖南科技大学的前身之一——湘潭工学院是原煤炭部在江南的唯一一所矿业高等院校,成立于1978年,采矿工程学科是我国长江以南地区专门从事煤矿开采科学研究和人才培养的采矿学科,与学校同时成立.近三十年来,采矿工程学科立足江南,以江南地区煤矿开采中存在的科技难题为主攻方向.与北方矿区相比,江南各矿区煤层赋存不稳定,岩层条件、地质构造复杂,水、火、瓦斯等灾害严重,因而矿井井型小、开采成本高、开采技术落后、安全状况差,长期制约着煤炭工业的发展.针对江南煤矿的这些特点,本学科重点在江南复杂煤层开采、巷道围岩控制、煤矿安全事故预防与控制等方面开展研究,并取得了较大的进展,形成了自身的特色.
