Objective: To explore the protective effect of apigenin (AP) on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in rats. Methods: A rat model of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) was reproduced with high fat diet. One hundred male SD rats were divided into 6 groups: normal group, model group, Yishen Fu group, apigenin high, medium and low dose groups After 10 weeks, all the animals were sacrificed and the serum levels of ALT, AST, TG, TC, TNF-α and SOD and MDA in the liver tissues were detected. Results: Compared with the model group, high, medium and low dose of apigenin group and YiShenFu group could significantly reduce the level of ALT, AST, TG, TC, TNF-α and MDA in liver tissue Liver SOD activity increased, the difference was significant (P <0.05 or P <0.01). Conclusion: Apigenin can protect rats with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) induced by high-fat diet and its mechanism may be related to anti-lipid peroxidation, clearance of free radicals and reduction of inflammatory mediators .
