This article analyzes the background, the main content, the international influence and the bill’s existing problems in the publication of the Daniel Pearl News Free Press Act. It considers that the Press Free Press Act in the United States complies with the U.S. foreign policy in the post-financial crisis era and reflects the United States’ Propaganda of mainstream values. The passage of the act has positive significance for raising the status of news practitioners and safeguarding the rights and interests of journalists. However, “freedom” emphasized in the act is one-sided freedom and reflects the double standards of the U.S. domestic and foreign policies.
