巩玉珍,是农安县榛柴岗乡敬老院院长,今年67岁,多次被选为长春市和农安县人大代表。在担任市、县人大代表的20多年里,她时刻不忘代表职责,立足本职,全身心投入到敬老事业上,受到人们的称赞。1975年秋,由于工作需要,她被派到榛柴岗乡敬老院担任院长。初到敬老院,她看到这样一幅情景:乱七八糟的院落,又脏又有异味的房屋,冷冷清清的厨房,杂乱无章的宿舍;尤其是那28位目光呆滞的老人,有的流着口水,有的淌着鼻涕,有的生活不能自理……当时,这一切对她来说,压力太大了。她晚上翻来复去怎么也睡不着,一度产生了弃职不干的念头。
