In Lawrence’s novel The Woman in Love, the symbolic significance of Gerald’s death has always been the subject of academic attention. Generally speaking, the traditional view is to understand it from the perspective of gender relations and the critical view of industrial society, and to position it as the sacrificial person of modern civilization. However, based on the perspective of Gerald himself, it has not got enough attention. From the death of religious beliefs and the death of personal feelings, the novel paves the way for the death of Gerald, and tries to reinforce the death and the death of Gerald in the process of the dissolution of Gerald to death and the mechanical nature of his life Students think of tension.
