从早期汝州地区的民间戏曲入手,较为详细地梳理了早期靠山簧到豫西调在汝州(临汝)的演变、抗战后期豫剧流派在临汝的汇流以及解放后豫剧在汝州的发展及影响。从带讴(或咦腔)的靠山簧到大腔大口豫西调,这种充满活力的唱腔在临汝县经受了锤炼,形成了音韵圆顺、柔和、缠绵、浑厚的艺术特色。从李占奎到吴银船,从王二顺到李树建等靠山簧、豫西调中卓有建树的男角的唱腔体现了传承的连续性。
