Retrospectively investigated the causes of the death of 13360 workers in five uranium mines for 15 years (1971.1-1985.12) and conducted statistical analysis to explore the major occupational hazards of the downhole operations. The results show that underground workers and occupational factors related to the cause of death is occupational injuries, silicosis, lung cancer. The three crude fatality rates were 55.37,14.20,17.47 × 10 -5, the average life expectancy loss were 3.55, 2.41, 2.89 years. The other cause of death has not yet been found to be related to the harmful factors in underground careers.
