Twenty years ago, when Wei Dajun and Ding Hong went to Beijing Broadcasting Institute to go to college, the documentary “Silk Road” co-produced by CCTV and Japan’s NHK television station was a must-read film for their major. The honeymoon period coincided with the Sino-Japanese relations in the 1980s. NHK funds, equipment and creative staff, CCTV play a supporting role, a pedestrian is the first into the vast desert along the Silk Road crew, wherever they go, enjoy the opening of the railway line, and even military escort treatment. At the time, the signs of all accompanying vehicles were painted on the front of the vehicle: two arms held together, a map of China under the left arm and a map of Japan under the right arm. In the days when Chinese families had few television sets, the “Silk Road” shot in the 1980s was hailed as the documentary peak at the time. From 2003 to 2005, as a general director, Wei Dajun and his colleagues also carried video cameras on the Silk Road. Still CCTV and NHK cooperation.
