During the two sessions this year, Wang Yajun, a member of the CPPCC National Committee, submitted a motion proposing to set up a cross-border logistics platform under the framework of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area to further reduce logistics costs so as to enhance bilateral trade. While China is negotiating with ASEAN on an upgraded version of its FTA, it is an important indicator of how to reduce logistics costs and achieve a smooth flow of goods so as to measure the extent of bilateral connectivity. With the completion of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, the bilateral trade volume has exploded and increased from 292.78 billion U.S. dollars in the same year (2010) to 480.39 billion U.S. dollars in 2014.
