陶瓷在历来的对外交往中扮演着重要的角色。古代帝王常以陶瓷丝绸等赏赐前来拜访的外国使节,这些精美的陶瓷礼品既传播了中国的文化,又增进了我国与它国的友谊。日本当代著名学者三上次男先生,在其《陶瓷之路》一书中曾写道:“中国陶瓷是跨越中世纪东西方世界的一条友谊纽带,同时也是一座东西方文化交流的桥梁。”今天,我国国家领导人也经常用精美的陶瓷艺术珍品作为礼品赠送给许多外国政府首脑,并且陶瓷也成为海峡两岸相互沟通的一座桥梁,成为党和政府积极推动两岸统一的一个重要媒介。首先,陶瓷的外观可视为两岸统一的政治符号。2005年4月、5月,中国国民党主席连战先生、亲民党主席宋楚瑜先生先后访问大陆。在北京人民大会堂,中共中央胡锦涛总书记代表党中央向中国国民党、亲民党中央赠送了两份礼物——名为《源》、《脉》的瓷瓶。在《现代汉语词典》中,“源”指的是水流起头的地方;而
Ceramics have always played an important role in foreign exchange.
