10年前,王力先生在《和青年同志们谈写信》一文中提到“收信人姓名后面要加上‘同志’、‘先生’等字样.这也是礼貌问题.古今中外,都遵守这个规矩.‘文革’以后,许多人不懂这个规矩了.甚至机关干部发公函,也有不称收信人为‘同志’或 ‘先生’的……有一位同志写信来批评我说:‘同志是光荣的称号,如果你是个劳改犯,也叫你同志吗?’这话是不合逻辑的.我并没有让你把劳改犯尊称为同志.你不叫我‘同志’,叫声‘先生’总可以了吧.”事过十多年,信封上收信人的姓名后不写称呼的现象仍然常见.一般人或某些学生不写称呼,大概是不懂规矩和礼貌;机关干部发给个人的公函在姓名后普遍不写称呼——其中公、检、法发给个人的公函一律不写称呼(这里所说的一律不写称呼,不但指公、检、法的某些特殊函件,如民事判决书、传票、传唤证等,还包括对信访者的复信等一般函件)就不是简单的不懂规矩问题了.探究其原因,大致有这样四种认识:
