1868年的一天,一艘满载游客的轮船正沿着挪威海岸航行,此时的甲板上挤满了人。突然,一名游客叫道:“看!那边是什么?”顺着他手指的方向,人们看到在不远处的海面上有一大片黑乎乎的东西在慢慢移动。当船靠近时,人们发现那片黑乎乎的东西原来是数不清的旅鼠,它们正在奋力向海中游去。身单力薄的旅鼠根本无法与大海抗争,它们很快就因为体力耗尽而被淹死,顿时海面上浮起了一层旅鼠的尸体。所有围观的游客无法相信自己的眼睛,旅鼠竟然会集体自杀!
