Local films in Hong Kong made 2,300 films a year from the 1980s to the early 1990s and became the second largest movie exporter outside of Hollywood. Now they have dropped to 33 in 2010 (18 films in other films) and 170 million at the box office Hong Kong dollar (another 300 million Hong Kong dollar shots), by 2011 to 20 (another film 27), the box office dropped to 120 million Hong Kong dollars (another 145 million Hong Kong dollar). The number of cinemas dropped by 60.5% from 119 in 1993 (peak) to 46 in February 2012, while the number of seats dropped from 121,885 to 38,861, a decrease of 67.5%. It can be seen from the above figures that there is a lip-correlation between Hong Kong films and theaters. At present, theaters are extremely difficult to operate and have reached the critical point.
