罗蒂利用斯诺的科学文化和文学文化之间的张力强调文学的独特价值,力图建立文学文化。他从反对把哲学作为文化的基础学科开始,利用先前哲学家的思想资源逐步消解哲学的权威性,使哲学最终成为一种文学类型。哲学和文学的关系由此成为文学文化内在韵律的主要表现。罗蒂既承认二者之间的对立,又试图通过新的文学知识分子把它们融合在一起,实现其实用主义的文化目标。他试图在后现代的思维框架中提出解决问题的方式,尽管在论述中观点摇摆不定,并且乌托邦色彩浓厚,但这仍然是一种有吸引力的选择。
Rorty uses the tension between Snow’s scientific culture and literary culture to emphasize the unique value of literature and to establish a literary culture. Starting from his objection to using philosophy as the basic discipline of culture, he gradually eliminated the authority of philosophy by using the ideological resources of the previous philosophers and made philosophy eventually become a type of literature. The relationship between philosophy and literature became the main manifestation of the inherent rhythm of literary culture. Rorty not only acknowledged the opposition between the two, but also attempted to bring them together through the new literary intellectuals to achieve their pragmatic cultural goals. He attempts to propose solutions to problems in the framework of postmodern thinking, which is still an attractive option despite its fluctuating views in the discourse and utopianism.
