(I) International direct investment flows reached record levels in 1995 In 1995, the flow of international direct investment increased by 40% to an unprecedented level of 315 billion U.S. dollars. The developed countries are the main body of international direct investment. Their direct investment abroad is 2.7 trillion U.S. dollars, an increase of 42 percent over 1994 and foreign direct investment reached 203 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 53 percent over the previous year.
