根据稻的生态类型,一般把种在水田中的稻称为水稻,种在旱地上的则称为陆稻(旱谷)。早谷又名地谷、山谷、旱稻等,在云南省边疆少数民族地区习惯称为旱谷。我省大部地区气候温暖,雨量充沛,在南部热带、南亚热带,旱季还有雾多、湿度大的优越条件能满足旱谷生长发育的需要,尤其在旱谷旺盛生长的夏天,正值高温多雨季节,提供了旱谷生育所需的热量和水分,使其长得株高、秆粗、穗大。从海拔400—500米的西双版纳到海拔1,900米的昆明,都有旱谷的栽培,全省种植旱谷面积约100多万亩,是我国目前陆稻的主产区,主要集中在我省西南和东南的思茅、西双版纳、临沧、文山等地区和自治州境内。 According to the ecological type of rice, rice planted in paddy fields is generally called rice, while in dry land, it is called as paddy rice (wadi).
