黄侃先生是我国近代著名的国学大师,在经学、文学、哲学各方面都有独特的见解和卓异的成绩,特别是在文字、音韵、训诂等方面,蔚为大家,在近代学术史上占有突出的地位并产生过巨大的影响。人们将黄侃先生和他的老师章太炎先生称为“乾嘉以来小学的集大成者”、“传统语言文字学的承前启后之人”。黄侃先生治学谨严,坚守五十岁前不著书,故在其四十九岁去世之时,发表的著作并不多。
