In this experiment, exogenous ACTH was used to observe the endocrine and immunomodulatory effects of ginsenosides. The experimental results confirmed that exogenous ACTH not only induces an increase in adrenal corticosterone secretion in mice, but also results in inhibition of mouse NK cell activity and T cell transformation activity. This inhibition was negatively correlated with elevated corticosterone levels. The use of ginsenosides can partially offset the increase of ACTH-induced secretion of corticosterone and promote the recovery of NK cells and T cell activity. The above results suggest that ginsenosides may participate in the regulation of immune function by adjusting the activity of the pituitary (ACTH)-adrenal (corticosterone) axis.
