ESP(专门用途英语)是上世纪六七十年代兴起的一门学科,其特点是目的明确、针对性强、实用性高。随着社会的飞速发展,ESP教学在我国大学外语教学界越来越多的受到关注,同时也有一些偏见和误解。如果这种偏见和误解不消除,就不可能使我国大学的ESP教学有很好的发展。ESP教学就其价值而言,主要体现在社会、学科和个人发展三个方面。如何实现ESP教学价值应成为大学英语改革的重心之一。
ESP (English for Specific Purposes) is a discipline that flourished in the 1960s and 1970s and is characterized by its clear purpose, strong pertinence and high practicability. With the rapid development of society, ESP teaching attracts more and more attention in the foreign language teaching of Chinese universities, and also has some prejudices and misunderstandings. If this prejudice and misunderstanding do not eliminate, it is impossible to make the ESP teaching in our university have a good development. ESP teaching, in terms of its value, is mainly reflected in three aspects of social, academic and personal development. How to realize ESP teaching value should become one of the focuses of college English reform.
