兴国县是全省生姜生产重点县之一,而九山则是兴国生姜的主要产地。原来有名的社富生姜就是九山生姜。九山生姜以肥壮、细嫩多肉、甜辣可口、外皮美观,久存地窖不变质等优点而胜过一般生姜。除畅销赣南、南昌等内销市场外,曾远销南洋群岛诸国及加拿大等国际市场。生姜不但是日常生活菜肴中的佐料,而且可加工成姜胚、白糖姜片、甘姜、蜜姜、酱姜等。生姜在医学方面还是一种很好的中药材。
