根据我省在六月前尚不能形成瘧疾新感染的条件,是否有长潛伏期瘧疾的存在。作者曾于1962年在枣庄市、滕县最南端,及微山县东南部境內铁路沿线的車站、养路工区、机关、学校和鉄路家属宿舍,对135例六月前新发病患者进行了流行病学的調查。在調查中确定为瘧疾新发病例的条件为:①两年內确未出現瘧疾症状;亦未有类似症状之发生;未服用过任何抗瘧药物;并未曾到外診所就医者。②两年內未曾到过其他瘧疾流行区者。③本次发病在診断上无誤診:即具有瘧疾典型症状,并經血涂片检查(美兰快速染色)瘧原虫阳性者。調查結果:在1962年6月前发生的135例瘧疾患者中,发現既往无瘧疾病史的新发病例有40例,占29.62%。既往无瘧疾病史,62年曾到瘧疾流行区(湖北洪湖县)新感染发病1例,占0.74%;60年瘧疾旧患,62年发病者11名,占8.14%;61年旧患,62年复发者83名,占61.48%。
