Objective To understand the damage to the eyes and lens of the operator by microwaves and to provide a basis for health monitoring and protective measures. Methods According to the requirements of Technical Code of Occupational Health Monitoring, 112 workers engaged in microwave in a certain city were ophthalmologically examined, and the results were compared with that of the control group. Results The total turbidity and the degree of crystal opacity in the investigation group were significantly different from those in the control group (P <0.01). The opacity of crystal in the microwave workers and the microwave workers under 45 years old who were more than 10 years old were significantly higher than those in the control group Group (P <0.05 or 0.01), the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion Long-term low-intensity microwave radiation can cause damage to the lens of the worker’s eye and has a certain cumulative effect. We should strengthen the health protection work of this special group of microwave operators, especially the protection of the eyes.
