Objective To investigate the relationship between serum soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (SVCAM-1) and obesity in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its possible mechanism. Methods 76 patients with T2DM were divided into T2DM obesity group (41 cases) and T2DM non-obesity group (35 cases) according to the presence of obesity, and the other 30 cases of control group. Compare the general situation of each group, blood lipid, glucose metabolism and other biochemical indicators and SVCAM-1 differences. Results Serum levels of SVCAM-1 in T2DM obesity group were significantly higher than those in non-obese T2DM group (P <0.05), and SVCAM-1 levels in both groups were higher than those in control group (all P <0.01). Correlation analysis showed that serum SVCAM-1 was associated with MBI, WC, SBP, DBP, FPG, TG, TC, , Low density lipoprotein (LDL-C) was significantly positive correlation, and high density lipoprotein (HDL-C) was significantly negatively correlated. Conclusion SVCAM-1 plays an important role in the occurrence of T2DM. Obesity is involved in the occurrence and development of vascular endothelial dysfunction.
