One of the new trends and new approaches to the study of portraits in Nordic countries is to analyze the examples of associations and rhetoric in the study of portraiture in Nordic countries based on the theories of relevance and painting rhetoric and to reveal the intrinsic essence of portraits as a particular artistic form of self-expression .
