When a mitotic cell fuses with an interphase cell, chromosome precocity occurs. The morphology of precociously concentrated chromosomes (PCCs) depends on the phase of the interphase cells at the time of fusion. In the early stages of G 1 and before DNA replication, PCCs were long single strands; in G 2 they consisted of two chromatids and were still longer than the previous chromosomes. In the S phase, PCC was “smashed” and “fragmented”. PCC has been observed in human gastric cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, brain tumor, leukemia and bladder cancer.
