Junctional adhesion molecule A (JAM-A) belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily and is a kind of transmembrane protein. It has many physiological functions such as embryonic development, maintenance of normal tissue structure, inflammation and immune response, wound repair and tumor metastasis Pathological process has an important role. JAM-A has a membrane-spanning type I membrane protein with two V-type immunoglobulin ring-like structures extracellularly that can perform different biological functions by binding cis-dimers to intracellular PDZ domains. Much research has been done on JAM-A and its biological functions. The opposite effect of JAM-A on the proliferation of different germline cells is of great concern. The progress of JAM-A in three aspects of cell proliferation, tumor migration and inflammatory bowel disease is reviewed.
