应中国社会科学院的邀请,美国著名经济学家D·盖尔·约翰逊先生于近期来华,分别在北京和四川等地进行学术讲座。现年79岁高龄的约翰逊先生是美国经济学会1998~1999年主席、芝加哥大学经济学教授,曾在六七十年代担任美国总统农业问题顾问。他对中国经济问题颇有研究,先后20余次来华从事学术活动。在有关部门的安排下,本刊记者在约翰逊先生下榻的北京凯莱大酒店对其进行了采访,请他回答了有关中国加入世界贸易组织等问题。以下是约翰逊先生的谈话内容。
At the invitation of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Mr. D Gael Johnson, a famous American economist, came to China in the near future and conducted academic lectures in Beijing and Sichuan respectively. Mr. Johnson, 79, is chairman of the American Economic Association from 1998 to 1999 and a professor of economics at the University of Chicago. He served as the president’s agricultural adviser in the 1960s and 1970s. He studied quite well the problems of China’s economy and has held more than 20 times in China for academic activities. Under the arrangement of the relevant departments, our correspondents interviewed him at the Beijing Gloria Plaza Hotel where Mr. Johnson stayed, and asked him to answer questions about China’s accession to the World Trade Organization.
