鸡麻为蔷薇科鸡麻属落叶灌木,产于辽宁、山东、河南、陕西、安徽等地。株形秀丽,花色洁白淡雅,是园林绿化的好材料。鸡麻高2~3m,枝条开展,枝干为紫褐色,叶卵形至卵状椭圆形,端锐尖,基圆形,叶缘有尖锐重锯齿,叶表面多褶皱。花色纯白,单生于新枝顶端。核果,倒卵形,亮黑色。花期4~5月。鸡麻喜湿润环境,但不耐积水,喜光,耐寒,对土壤要求不严,在沙壤土上生长最为旺盛,喜肥。
