民间语言有独特的智慧力量,表现为对社会信息的传播力和形成影响社会的公信力,其中谣谚在此方面的表现比较明显。自西周以来至今搜集整理谣谚,既是个人行为,更是官方行为。除散记谣谚的著作外,还出现了为数不少的谣谚专书,它们在影响当时和后世方面,显示出不容忽视的智慧力量。比较而言,以地域范围整理并流传的谣谚专书并不多。在陇土,整理本《陇南谣谚》是值得注意的专书,专家多有好评,其在展示陇南谣谚蕴含的智慧力量、表现陇南民间文学形式、对后世思想意识产生影响,表现陇南社会生活及观念的生动细节等等方面,具有重要作用。
