本刊第7期刊登了《疑罪从无,演绎三判死刑的大学生无罪释放》一文后,在社会上引起了强烈的反响。广大读者来信来电,希望进一步了解检察机关在孙万刚案中是如何履行法律监督职责,依法纠正这起错案的。为满足读者的愿望,本期刊登了《纠错,不仅仅是为了改判》一文,详细披露了云南省人民检察院对孙万刚案件从复查到改判的全过程。云南省检察院在深入开展的全国检察机关“强化法律监督,维护公平正义”教育活动中,坚持“有错必纠”的原则,应该说,对孙万刚案件的改判,是依法纠正了错案,取得良好的社会效果。“强化法律监督,维护公平正义”活动所取得的成果,也充分体现了现代法治的理念和我国司法文明的进步,其社会意义已远远超过案件改判的本身。今年4月27日,最高人民检察院召开了全国检察机关深化“强化法律监督,维护公平正义”教育活动电视电话会议。会议特别强调各级检察机关要继续履行宪法赋予的神圣职责,严肃查处国家机关工作人员利用职务之便侵犯人权的案件,坚决清除司法腐败,强化法律监督职能,切实维护社会公平正义。我们相信,全国各级检察机关在今后的工作中,一定会不辱使命,不负众望,为实现社会公平正义而作出更大的努力。
