新世纪以来的部分长篇小说由于缺少了现实主义的锋芒和力量而患上了“虚弱症”,其中重要的原因就是“私语化写作”的泛滥。相当数量的长篇小说作家长期脱离底层现实生活,对转型期中国社会既严酷又波澜壮阔的现实生活缺乏了解,也提不起兴趣;对艰辛困苦的底层生活经验的表达,采取冷眼旁观的消极态度,从而在某种程度上失去了对现实生活发言的深度与力度。从《零炮楼》艺术格调与意义生成的“泛私语化写作”中,可以看出新世纪长篇小说的某种走向,其中隐含着应当警惕的伪现实主义创作问题。
