美國芝加哥菲爾德博物館藏中國金石拓本為數甚巨,雖較臺灣或日本的中國金石拓本收藏略顯遜色,但在歐美世界似首屈一指,然罕為人知。這些藏品主要由勞費爾(Berthold Laufer,1874-1934)、葛維漢(David C.Graham,1884-1962)等人收集而來,而勞費爾的收集品又是其最主要之來源。1960年,該館購入李宗侗(1895-1974)舊藏十餘種(多為清末端方舊藏),數量不多,但傳承有緒,題跋屢見,內容豐富,可視為菲爾德博物館藏中國碑拓之菁華,堪與鎮館之寶宋拓蘭亭真本相媲美。①本文主要是輯錄部份秦漢碑拓所見题跋,以便方家發掘其意義或價值。
