自从巴斯内特和勒菲弗尔提出翻译研究的文化转向之后,中国翻译研究的文化学派与语言学派之间就争论不断。文化学派聚焦文本以外的因素,关注翻译的结果和制约翻译选择的文化因素,而语言学派则聚焦文本。关注语言的转换过程,并为此而质疑文化学派的翻译研究,认为这种研究失去了本体,迷失了方向,翻译研究必须回归到文本研究。社会话语分析视域下的翻译研究通过对比原文和译文,提炼译者的主体性,并将译者主体性置于特定的社会历史背景中,考察语言背后的文化意义,进而揭示语言与社会之间的复杂关系。这一理论模式将文本分析与文化分析融合起来,对翻译进行综合考量,多层面、宽视域地揭示了翻译的语言和文化属性,成为翻译综合研究的典范。
