The North China earthquake area is the strongest earthquake activity in the eastern part of mainland China. The seismic area includes 4 seismogenic belts of Tanlu, Fenwei, Hebei Plain and Yinchuan-Hetao. Datong City, Shanxi Province, is located in the north central part of the North China earthquake area, involving the north-central part of the Fenwei seismic belt and the eastern end of the Yinchuan-Hetu seismic belt (Figure 1). Fenghuang seismic belt starts from the Weihe basin and Lingbao basin to the north via Yuncheng basin, Linfen basin, Taiyuan basin, Xinding basin, Lingqiu basin, Datong basin, Wei-Guang basin and Xuanhua basin, and ends in Yanhuai Basin of Hebei Province.
