China’s largest home appliance retailer Gome announced no November 11 that Gome had already signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Shining Crown owned by Huang Guangyu, major shareholder of Gome. According to the document, Zou Xiaochun may be appointed executive director of Gome while Huang Yanhong, sister of Huang Guangyuan, will be appointed non-executive director. The appointment is waiting for the approval of the shareholding conference.
This means the inside dispute in Gome may come to an end and Gome may avoid the fate of being split.
As a hidden assistant to Huang Guangyu, Zou Xiao rarely showed himself in front of the media. He was born in Ji’an, Jiangxi in 1969. In his early twenties he served as teacher. In 2000 he became a lawyer and worked for Huang Guangyu as counsel.
In 2001 Zou Xiaochun was appointed General Counsel of Gome. He took part in Gome’s listing in Hong Kong. Then, he played an important role in Gome’s major acquisitions with his legal proficiencies.
At the end of 2008, IT company Zhongguancun’s board chairman was arrested. Huang Guangyu, major shareholder of this company, appointed Zou Xiaochun vice chairman of the company. With his grand talents in operation, Zou successfully helped this IT company survive the unstable period.
Huang family praised Zou Xiaochun as stable and all-purpose man. He made out many useful suggestions for Huang Guangyu. He was also equipped with strong ability of carrying out orders. Huang trusted him very much and allowed him to see many confidential files.
