《乐记》是我国古代比较系统的音乐美学著作，系统性地总结了儒家音乐美学思想。今天，我们用辨证唯物主义和历史唯物主义观点去研究《乐记》中的音乐美学思想，对哲学、文艺美学、社会学等学科的发展仍具有重要研究价值。尤其对建立、发展和充实今天的音乐美学理论，具有直接的现实意义。
