A significant number of infants who are severely asphyxiated during childbirth have cerebral palsy and a few are whole brain injuries. Some surviving infants are immediately cesarean and have intensive resuscitation measures including mechanical ventilation, cardiac massage, intravenous medications and heart stimulation Drugs are immune to death. Infants with countless severe asphyxia recover and develop normally with careful care when the pH is 6.8, but more severe acidosis, especially when lactic acid is predominant, often leads to death or disability. A case of infants with a pH of 6.55, although surviving, left with spastic limb paralysis, the authors read the literature by Fysh et al. (1982)
