前胡的香豆素类成份前胡在《名医别录》中收载为中品。具有“主疗痰满、胸胁中痞、心腹结气、风头痛、去痰实、下气,治伤寒寒热,推陈致新、明目、益精。”等作用。在中药市场上有各种商品名称。但大体分为白花前胡和紫花前胡两大类。根据中药志记载,白花前胡为伞形科植物Peucedanum praeruptorumOunn.的根。紫花前胡为同科植物P.decursivum Maxim.之根。在日本有一种野生的与后者相同。此外,有Angelica
