据外刊报道,第28届国际地质大会将于1989年7月9—19日在美国华盛顿召开。该届大会由美国全国科学院和美国地质调查所主办,预计有6000多位地质科学家参加。国际地质大会由国际地质科学联合会发起,每四年召开一次。它的宗旨是促进地学领域中基础研究和应用研究在世界范围内的交流与发展。第27届国际地质大会已于1984年在苏联莫斯科举行,日本申请在1992年主办第29届国际地质大会。
According to foreign media reports, the 28th International Geological Congress will be held July 9-19, 1989 in Washington, DC. The conference is hosted by the National Academy of Sciences of the United States and the United States Geological Survey and is expected to have more than 6,000 geological scientists. The International Geological Conference was initiated by the International Union of Geological Sciences and convened every four years. Its purpose is to promote the exchange and development of basic research and applied research in the field of geosciences around the world. The 27th International Geological Congress was held in Moscow, the Soviet Union in 1984, and Japan applied for hosting the 29th International Geological Congress in 1992.
