Objective To study the relationship between type 2 diabetes with coronary heart disease and insulin. Methods The serum insulin and lipid levels in 60 healthy people and 52 type 2 diabetic patients with coronary heart disease were observed and their correlations were analyzed. Results The differences of serum insulin, total cholesterol, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein between the two groups were statistically significant (P <0.01). Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with coronary heart disease were higher than healthy people. There was a significant correlation between insulin and total cholesterol, triglyceride and high density lipoprotein in type 2 diabetic patients with coronary heart disease (P <0.05). Conclusions Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease have significantly elevated blood lipids and insulin, and they are closely related.
