Merr. Some of the bitter lignin ingredients have anti-malarial, anti-tumor, and anti-amoebic dysentery effects. The authors also isolated two new bitter lignin javanicolide C(1) and D(2) and five new lignan glucoside javanico-side B~F(3~7) from the plant seeds. 8 known bitter lignin and 19 known bitter lignin glucosides were obtained. Dry and crushed Brucea javanica seeds were extracted with hot methanol.
