激励,在现代管理中是绝对不可缺少的。如果你要求你的职员实现你所规定的目标,首先你必须问自己:他们是否得到充分的激励?激励就是运用各种手段激发人们,使其产生做某件事情的强烈动机的过程。虽然激励和刺激只有一字之差,而且在过去它们被当作同一回事情而受到批判,但是它们却有着根本性的区别。这种区别主要表现在两个方面:第一,激励是一种间接的或弱的强化作用,使被激励者处于一种主动的地位;而刺激则是一种直接的或强的强化作用,使被刺激者处于一种被动的地位。第二,激励是一种先取后与的策略,而刺激则是一种先与后取的策略。
