Open access refers to any publication that provides scientific research literature to readers for free and on a permanent basis. This is a fresh and dynamic mode in scholarly publishing. According to a recent survey released by Natural Publishing Group, open access is more attractive to Chinese scientists. However, it is regrettable that the survey shows that Chinese writers seem to be less aware of the open access to this publishing model. So what exactly is open access to publishing?
