The pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes mellitus (IDDM) is still unknown. It is generally considered to be related to genetic and environmental factors as well as viral infections. Recently, many studies have shown that type I diabetes is an organ-specific autoimmune disease and viral infection is one of the important reasons in the initial stage of pancreatic islet β-cell destruction. Clements reports that Coxsackie virus infection causes idiopathic immune cells that cause IDD. Coxsackie virus is a member of the small RNA virus family Enterovirus, sub-A, B two groups. Group A includes type 1 to 24, and group B includes type 1 to type 6. The genome is a single-strand strand RNA. We conducted a coxsackie B_ (1-6) specific IgM test in diabetic patients to investigate the role of coxsackie B virus infection in the pathogenesis of IDDM.
