主持人语每一位研究者都只能一次拥有一种视角,这既是他的局限,也是他的特色视角或方法很重要,决定着研究的范围,发展以至结论,特别在成千上万的画家或林林总总的潮流趋势中,选择了谁,选择了什么来构成他的理论就最是能直截了当地体现研究者视角的一个大问题。在二战至今的半个世纪中,移居国外的画家一定决不止二、三十位,但为什么只能提出这么多,苏立文认为,就是因为他们对作为中国艺术家这一事实贡献出了各自的一点意义。在国际化的氛围与商品经济的潮流中,类似韩国、新加坡甚至日本这样的国家,有些让人摸不准特色的感觉。顺应国际潮流已经成为一种必然,而回复民族的传统和特色倒成了一种个别人无奈的呐喊了,不知发展着的中国会不会也将是这番情景!
