《法门寺》是一出骨子老戏。现今舞台上京剧常演该剧,除京剧外,在历史上其它剧种也经常演出。就笔者所知,至少汉剧、徽剧、晋剧、滇剧、湘剧、豫剧、河北梆子、同洲梆子也有类似剧目,只是剧目叫法有多种,如《眉邬县》、《佛殿告状》等;而晋剧则名为《宋巧娇告状》、《双娇奇缘》、《拾玉镯》等。此剧最早见于道光二十五年刊本《都门纪略》。老一代的如谭鑫培、裘盛戎、袁世海、童芷苓、言菊朋等均工此戏。可见该剧深受欢迎,影响广泛。 “Famen Temple” is an old drama.
