《世说新语》有一段记载东吴孙秀归降晋朝后,夫妻间闹矛盾,致使皇帝出面调停的故事。文曰:孙秀降晋,晋武帝厚存宠之,妻以姨妹蒯氏,室家甚笃。妻尝妒,乃骂秀为貉子。秀大不平,遂不复入。蒯氏大自悔责,请救于帝。时大赦,群臣咸见。既出,帝独留秀,从容谓曰:“天下旷荡,蒯夫人可得从其例不?”秀免冠而谢,遂为夫妇如初。(《惑溺》)故事很有趣,文字也生动。孙秀是三国吴将,字彦才,官前将军、夏口都督。既是王室宗亲,又掌兵权,因遭吴主孙皓疑忌,
