This paper analyzes the difference between the SESAM mode-locking and the dye-saturable absorber mode-locking, and presents a preliminary model of the SESAM mode-locking mechanism. Based on the analysis of the cavity parameters, a series of experiments were carried out to realize the SESAM mode-locked operation of the semiconductor end-pumped Nd: YAG laser.
