佛教经古印度传入中国之后,经历了数个朝代的传播形成了具有中国特色的佛教文化。佛教在传播过程中与中国文化进行了融合与交流。佛教在唐代是发展的鼎盛时期,此时出现了很多佛教雕塑。唐代佛教雕塑中的人物造像有浓郁的中国特色,具有强烈的写实风格,与唐朝的主流审美不谋而合,是唐代社会现实的艺术概括,也是封建统治具象化的体现。
