近几年来,各地市话建设发展很快,长途干线建设却相对缓慢,长途电路不足已成为严重障碍。在目前我国不能自力提供大量干线光缆设备的条件下,部份地区采用明线杆路加挂单缆传送载波1800路或360路,将是一种迅速增加省际和省内干线电路的有效办法,原有地下同轴电缆线路则可采用N+N系统迅速扩容。技术经济分析表明,开发应用这两种N+N载波系统是迅速增强我国长途通信能力的经济而有效的途径。
